Learning outdoors has always been part of my teaching practice going back to my own childhood experiences and my early years of teaching preschool in the late 1980s. There is irrefutable evidence of the benefits of being outdoors both for physical and mental health. Some of that research is outlined here on the Outdoor Play Canada website. Covid-19 health and safety protocols has heightened awareness of the importance (and safety) of being outdoors.
